Reproduction Beaded And Quilled Braintanned Buckskin Jacket Size 40-42 Handsewn.
Quillwork and beadwork by Shawn Webster, cut and fit of coat have been heavily modified by various owners following purchase.
Beautiful coat completely handsewn with linen and sinew thread. Coat is make completely of traditionally braintannef and smoked buckskin. Copper coin buttons added.
Originally had hook and eye closures, those were removed before it came to me, and antler toggles were added. I removed the antler toggles and replaced them with more correct buttons and loops. I had to sew several buttonholes closed, they are still visible on the jacket. See pictures for details. One seam is opening on the right shoulder, a simple repair. I also made adjustments to the sleeves when it came to me, my alterations are sewn with sinew thread.
Otherwise an excellent museum quality garment correct for reenactment or rendezvous from the Fur Trade through the Indian Wars.
Fits a 40R quite well, and could probably accommodate a 42, feel free to message for precise measurements.
Overall a striking historical garment.
